My Engineering Journey

I have always been interested in making things and finding out how things work. I started by building LEGO Technic sets as a kid; these sets were my first interaction with mechanics and electronics. Around this time, I started disassembling old electronics, which only increased my interest in mechanics and electronics. I learned a lot of the basics of mechatronics because of this.

My first experience with programming came with my VWO graduation project, where I made the charging system for a functioning railgun. See more about the railgun here. For this project, I made a simple charging circuit on a prototyping board, which required me to teach myself how to solder electronics. This board was controlled by an Arduino at first and later by an ESP32.

After graduation, my brother and I started making our own e-bikes. It all started with simple generic electronics, but my e-bike later evolved into a highly custom project based on the open-source VESC platform. Read more about the custom e-bike project here. This project encouraged me to learn CAD, 3D printing, building and spot-welding my own battery packs, working with BLDC systems, working with more complex electrical systems, and 3D scanning.

Over the years, I have completed a wide range of projects, from high-performance custom e-bikes and fully custom high-power UGVs to weight-reduction modifications for gaming mice. Read more about my projects here.
